Currarevagh House
In this Victorian country manor, romantically situated in 180 acres of private woodland, you can enjoy 4-star quality accommodation on the shores of Lough Corrib.
Complimentary full Irish breakfast and afternoon tea is included. Afternoon tea is served from 16:30 until 18:00.
Built by the present owner’s ancestors in 1842, it is still run more like a private country house than as a hotel. As such, the tranquil informality lends itself to those seeking relaxing days in a true Irish country house.
Currarevagh House offers an oasis of privacy for guests in an idyllic, undisturbed natural environment, providing exceptional personal service with a high standard of accommodation and old fashioned, traditional character. The idyllic setting of the house in Oughterard ensures that those seeking more active leisure activities are sure to find many facilities on-site or nearby.
At Currarevagh House, you can enjoy:
- Tennis on our own all-weather court.
- Croquet on the lawn.
- Swimming in our bay and from all the magnificent beaches surrounding Connemara.

Galway City - 30 minutes drive. Currarevagh (pronounced "Curra-reeva") still retains the atmosphere of a bygone age where the emphasis is on hospitality and service. It is run along the lines of a private country house rather than as an impersonal hotel and, while extremely comfortable, it is not pretentious. The tranquil informality lends itself to those seeking a relaxing few days enjoying our house and grounds, or exploring the beauty of Lough Corrib, Connemara, Galway and beyond.
Our rooms are individually styled and offer exclusive use of 3 comfortable sitting rooms. There, you can relax beside open turf fires, enjoy the breathtaking view, browse our many bookshelves or quietly snooze to the sound of silence.
