El Castro is a large park near the centre of Vigo. The park contains the remnants of the city’s old fortifications and you can enjoy beautiful views of the town. The park also has a monument to the galleons sunk during the Battle of Rande in 1702. The monument features the recovered anchors of several of the ships that sank during the battle.
Vigo also has numerous beaches along its coastline. The city of Bayonne is just 22 km away, Santiago de Compostela is a little less than 100 km away and Portugal is only 35 km away.
