The Cacela beach or Cacela Velha beach lies at the western end of the Cacela Peninsula, south of the historic village of Cacela Velha. It is part of the Ria Formosa Natural Park. It is characterized by its great extension, its tepid and calm waters during the summer period and the beauty of its landscapes.
The beach of Cacela Velha, due to its isolation, is far from the great floods of tourists that characterize other bathing resorts of the region. For this reason it is very frequented by lovers of naturism. Cacela Velha beach is also popular with the gay and lesbian community.
