Vila Real de Santo António
Vila Real de Santo António is a Portuguese Portuguese town in the District of Faro, region and subregion of the Algarve.
It is soothes of a municipality with 61.25 km ² of area and subdivided in 3 parishes. It is one of the few municipalities of Portugal territorially discontinuous, dividing in a western portion, the parish of Vila Nova de Cacela, and an eastern portion, where the city is located and Monte Gordo. The eastern part is bordered to the north and west by the municipality of Castro Marim, to the east by the Guadiana River, which defines the border with Spain, municipality of Aiamonte, and to the south has coast in the Atlantic ocean; the western part is bordered to the north and east by Castro Marim, to the west by Tavira and to the south it has coastline in the Atlantic Ocean.

Tourism
Founded in 1774, by order of the Marquis of Pombal, the city was built in less than two years on the beach near the mouth of the Guadiana.
