Piribebuy was originally founded as Guazú Chapel. Historic town located 73 kilometers east of Asuncion, in the Cordillera department of the Republic of Paraguay.



The craftsmanship of the place is much appreciated, with special mention to the historically famous 60 List Poncho (Para´í), originating from this city.



In the field of tourism, there is an incipient industry with high development potential.



The town of Piribebuy is crossed by seven streams with numerous waterfalls. It is also known for its mountains which, together with the spas, make it a must see within the tourist circuit of Paraguay.



One of the best known hills located in the Paraguari-Piribebuy branch is Mbatovi, where the ecological reserve of the same name is located. The Mbatoví Ecological Reserve offers eco-adventure for fun with family or friends, with activities such as hiking, hanging forest bridges, zip lines and rappelling, among others, and offers a beautiful view of the High Cordillera and its surrounding hills.





The city of Piribebuy has been characterized lately for hosting one of the most important national events, the 60-list Poncho Para'i Festival.



An International Festival, declared of national interest by the National Secretariat of Tourism and Paraguay's most important cultural institutions.



This festival is organized with the festivities of Ñandejára Guazú and brings together the most important national artists such as Los Alfonso, Villarrica Generation Group, Piribebuy Idols, Juan Cancio Barreto, Juan Carlos Oviedo and the Acuña brothers, Trío San Valentin, Piribebuy Jeroky Ballet, among others.



This festival is usually held on the premises of Club 12 de Agosto.



The Piribebuy Jeroky Ballet, is a group of prominent young people who carry the dance and Piribebuy's name always high, are invited to the largest cultural events in the country.
