Inaugurated in 1904, this elevator is the longest, and passes through passages and stairs for public and private use.
Access to the elevator is carried out through a wall, located on Gaspar Marín street of the Valparaíso plan, in which it is written that the Mariposa Elevator is located there. On the side of this wall there is an access staircase to the hill, where there is a break, and then continue its upward stretch.
The lower station is lined with corrugated iron, implanted in an exposed stone overhang, to then access the elevator cars.Meanwhile, at the top of the Mariposa Lift, its arrival is to a secondary street of the hill, known as the Barbosa promenade.

There are several alternatives to get to Valparaíso:
By bus
The trip takes 1 hour 45 minutes from Santiago. Existing departures with a frequency of 15 minutes, the bus companies offer a good level of service and comfort.
By car
For those who wish to arrive by car from Santiago, they should take Route 68, the estimated travel time being 1 hour and 30 minutes.
It has the peculiarity of passing under Baquedano street, a road that is part of the ring-road system of the Valparaíso hills. It is the lift that has the longest travel length: 160 meters, and one of the highest, 80 meters above sea level.
The Butterfly Lift is shown in the city through its vertical route, which can be seen from its beginning to its end on a street that borders Cerro Mariposa.
Its upper structure constitutes a whole with the sector that surrounds it, following the same lines of the neighboring houses, constituting a point of reference in a typical Buenos Aires neighborhood.
