It is quite spacious, with a pleasant garden and in the center of its main patio it preserves the traditional fountain of the time.





It was born from the initiatives of the Order of Mercy in 1739, originally under the concept of Colegio de San Jerónimo. He obtained a piece of land in donations and gave papers for building permits, which was completed in 1757.



Its walls are heavy, made of stone, mortar and some tile finishes. At the back of the rooms are several massive blocks that evoke the past.







The houses were demolished due to permits known as the Royal License. Approximately three years after the construction was completed, in 1765, the place was used as a building for the Real Renta de Alcábalas and the Real Aduana.



The earthquakes hit his work and the building was affected. In 1767 a plan was circulated, which brought up the idea of ​​using it for the establishment of 150 horsemen, even with certainty if this purpose was fulfilled. In the witness of the state in which the rest of the construction was found, the stone wall was extracted for use in other buildings.







It is located in Alameda de Santa Lucía and 1ª Calle Poniente, in the surroundings of La Antigua Guatemala.



The ruins are open to the public from Sunday to Sunday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.



The complex is in shambles, but with a pleasant appeal and beautiful landscaping, and especially around the central fountain. It is also known as the old ´´Real Customs´´.



They are convents and churches in ruins, perhaps the most beautiful and attractive with a garden that recreates the view and the spirit.
