Francisco de Vargas Figueroa founded in 1764, with the name of Hatoviejo, on the banks of the ´´La Quincha´´ stream. Originally Hatoviejo belonged to the province of Tunja according to the constitution of Tunja of 1811. In 1850 it was added to the canton of Chocontá. For the year 1903 by ordinance of the Assembly of Cundinamarca No. 10 of 1o. de Mayo, where the name of the town Hatoviejo is changed to Pinzón. In 1904, General Román Segura proposed to change Pinzón's name to Villapinzón.



Villapinzón is a municipality of Cundinamarca (Colombia), located in the province of Almeidas, it is 95 km from Bogotá. There is the source of the Bogotá river, a tributary of the Magdalena, one of the most polluted in the world after passing through Bogotá.

Physical description:

Villapinzón is located in the Cundiboyasence plateau, it belongs to the natural region of the Andean forest and to the subregion of the upper basin of the Bogotá River. Administratively it belongs to the Los Almeydas province, which is made up of the municipalities of Chocontá, Machetá, Manta, Sesquilé, Suesca, Tibirita and Villapinzón

Its municipal seat is located at 05º 13´ 09´´ north latitude and 73º 36´00´´ west longitude. Its extension is 249 km2, distributed 248.51 km2 in the rural area and 0.39 km2 in the urban area. (Source IGAC 1992). The area of ​​the municipal seat will be revalidated in this study.

Economy

ECONOMIC AXIS

This axis is an important field of action in territorial development planning insofar as it integrates the aspects that provide the resource for the support of the population, be it personal, family or social. Generating higher income in the inhabitants of the municipality, implies that said increase will also be reflected in higher income in the municipal administration, which reinvested generates progress and development.

The agricultural, industrial and environmental sectors are those that contribute quantitatively to the territorial social and economic development, so that they are the sectors that make up the economic axis to work in this Municipal Development Plan "VILLAPINZON, OPPORTUNITY FOR ALL" Around the agricultural and livestock activities of the region, the secondary sector of the economy manifests itself with the presence and activity of different commercial establishments that provide agricultural inputs and basic necessities for the family basket of the Villaponzonense population.

The third sector of the economy in the municipality is represented by the tanning industry, where they process leather, generating employment and livelihoods for the families who work there. We also find in Villapinzón some leather workshops where they make manufactures giving added value to the product and creating alternatively another livelihood activity
